Streamlined Energy and Carbon Reporting (SECR)

SECR was implemented on 1st April 2019 with the aim of bringing the benefits of carbon and energy reporting to more businesses. The scheme is designed to encourage the implementation of energy saving schemes through enhanced reporting of consumption levels.

 

Companies that are defined as 'large' under the Companies Act 2006 will be required to comply with SECR regulations.  Companies are defined as 'large' if they meet two of the following criteria in a reporting year:

- a turnover of £36million or more;

- a balance sheet of £18million or more or; 

- 250 emloyees or more.

​

If your business meets this criteria you will need to report your carbon footprint on an annual basis.
